PMalloy 21 - Wear-resistant Fe-based alloy

PMalloy 21 - Wear-resistant Fe-based alloy
Wear-resistant Fe-based alloy powder for surfacing of parts operated under abrasive wear

PMalloy 21 combines high wear resistance with high ductility. The unique combination of properties gives the possibility to carry out surfacing without preheating.

The service life of screw conveyors deposited using this alloy is 3–5 times higher than that of nitrated screws

Properties:

1. Chemical composition:

2.2% C; 18% Cr; 3% Ni; 2% Mo; 7% V; 1% Si; 1% Mn; Fe – balance

2. Microstructure of the deposited layer

Microstructure
Рис.1. Microstructure of the deposited layer PMalloy 21

The structure of the deposited metal consists of solid solution based on iron, carbide eutectic and excess vanadium carbides up to 16%.

3. Durability

4. The influence of tempering temperature

The sample is kept for 1 hour and cooled in air.
The characteristics of the deposited material depend from the tempering temperature is shown in fig. 3 and 4.
